where is hyundai made

A common question we’ve heard from potential customers is “where are Hyundai cars made?” As you may have guessed from our name, our brand has Korean roots dating back to the late 40s. However, as of 2020, over half of the cars we sell in the US are designed, made, and tested right here at American engineering facilities.

What does Hyundai mean?

Hyundai, which translates to “modernity” in English couldn’t be more fitting for everything our brand represents. “New Thinking, New Possibilities” is our current slogan and company mission. A large part of that is manufacturing vehicles exactly where we need them – right here in the US.

Where are Hyundai factories?

Hyundai USA has facilities in Alabama, Michigan, and California. Each has a different goal: manufacturing, engineering, and testing, respectively. These facilities manage everything from powertrain to paint color, fuel economy, and floor mats.

Our state of the art campuses allow for 200-degree interior baking, 300 straight hours of engine redline testing, and more. Your new Hyundai car can go from sheet metal to street legal in 19 hours flat with our streamlined production design.

And quality standards are of the highest priority with the well-known ISO/TS 16949 certification, which is the most rigid quality management standard from the International Automotive Task Force.

The Impact

Not only does Hyundai USA have a more direct hand in the vehicles that are sold here, but it makes a huge impact on the economy as well. In 2011, we hired more than 94,000 people across America, and that number continues to grow.

Sansone Hyundai might be the nearest Hyundai dealer in the Avenel area, but we have roots all over the country. Learn more by talking to our dealers today!
