At our Avenel, NJ Hyundai dealership, we are here to help in any way we can. If you’re a car care novice or new car owner, a bit of information can go a long way toward increasing your safety on and off the road. If there’s ever a fluid leaking from your vehicle, knowing what fluid it is and what it’s used for can help you determine the issue and then bring it to our service center.

Oil: Thick brown liquid that is used to keep your engine lubricated. Needs to be changed every three-six months or so for maximum efficiency.

Brake fluid: Clear to brown that has a slick, slippery feeling and comes from behind wheel area. This fluid is important to keep brake friction to a minimum and your stopping power at a maximum.

Antifreeze/coolant/radiator fluid: Typically bright colored like green or orange. Keeps your engine from overheating. This fluid level should only be checked when vehicle is not running.

Transmission fluid: Thin reddish fluid that lubricates your transmission system. Lack of fluid leads to gear slippage or delay in shifting.

Power steering fluid: Similar reddish color as transmission fluid, but comes from the front of the car rather than under the engine.

Washer fluid: typically bright blue in color, and it’s used to clean the windshield thereby increasing safety.

Come by our Hyundai service center any time to get your oil changed or to have any other fluids exchanged or topped-off. We help with all your service and routine maintenance needs in an efficient manner. Call or come by to schedule an appointment with us today!
