As your local Hyundai car dealer, we think it’s important to offer tips and information about being a responsible car owner. Today, we want to share some steps you can take to conserve fuel this summer. We hope this helps you spend less time and money at the pump and more time with your family.

Step 1: Come by for an oil change, tire rotation, or other routine service. According to carsdirect.com, issues with efficiency can oftentimes be linked back to problems with spark plugs, air filters, oxygen sensors, fuel injection systems, and tires, and we’d be happy to check those out for you.

Step 2: Drive to save. Lay off the gas when you can, utilize the cruise control, and otherwise be conscious of the fuel your vehicle is using. Each car has that speed sweet-spot for getting the best mpg (usually just below the speed limit), so get to know your car and how you can drive most conservatively.

Step 3: Avoid extra trips. Take the shortest route, smallest amount of trips, and even consider carpooling when possible. Lastly, always avoid travelling during high traffic times when you know you’ll be sitting on the road. An idling engine wastes more gas than necessary.

Step 4: Make your car aerodynamic and efficient. Remove roof racks, storage crates, and other exterior items that will cause extra wind resistance. Don’t forget to check the tire pressure, close the gas cap tightly, and get ready to hit the road.
