Hyundai Warranty Second Owner

Did you know the warranty coverage on your car stays with the car? This is a huge benefit to those purchasing a pre-owned vehicle, especially one with low mileage with lasting warranty protection. Our Hyundai dealers are here to chat about Hyundai warranty second owner frequently asked questions.

How does a warranty transfer work?

To put it most simply – the warranty stays with the car, not the driver. So, when you trade, sell, or otherwise retitle and register the vehicle to another party, the warranty is now theirs to use. There are, of course, some fine print rules and exceptions on occasion, but this is the case for the most part.

When does the warranty expire?

Your warranty will still expire on the same timeline as what was originally offered. So, if it’s a ten year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, that expires at 10 years or 100,000 miles – whichever is sooner – no matter who is driving it at the time.

There are a variety of other warranties that might need to be factored in, like a new vehicle limited warranty, hybrid battery warranty, anti-perforation warranty, roadside assistance, replacement parts, or an emission warranty.

If you are the one selling the car, this is a good thing to know the details of your existing warranty so you can factor it into your selling price.
